We’ve already compared theMeta Quest 2 to the PlayStation VR2.
But now it’s time to take it one step further.
This time, by comparing the Meta Quest 3 vs the PS VR2.
Will Sony’s second-generation VR headset be able to compete with Meta’s third-generation VR headset?
Only then will we be able to determine which headset performs better.
What Is Meta Quest 3?
Although, that doesn’t come as much of a surprise.
In fact, we’ve already pitted theMeta Quest 2 against Quest 3.
And, to no one’s surprise, the newer but older brother came out on top.
What Is PlayStation VR2?
The PS VR2 is Sony’s second-generation VR headset that works in tandem with the PS5.
Meaning, it’s not a standalone headset and requires a PS5 console to power and use it.
It’s currently one of the only console VRs competing with Meta.
So there’s no question about its performance.
The display resolution and refresh rate are what we want to investigate.
After all, the more pixels we get in display resolution, the higher the image quality will be.
Furthermore, the faster the refresh rate, the smoother the picture will be.
Albeit, not by much.
However, the PS VR2 matches the 120Hz refresh rate of the Meta Quest 3.
There’s still more to the discussion with games and gameplay.
Having said that, many of those games are also compatible with the PS VR2.
Such asHorizon: Call of the Mountain,Gran Turismo 7 VR, andResident Evil Village VR.
What’s more, some exclusive PS5 games are made PS VR2 compatible.
The Meta’s list of exclusive games, well let’s just say they aren’t exactly turning heads.
Exclusive titles, on the other hand, are a selling factor for the PS VR2.
What it really boils down to is your setup and preferences.
It costs $550, which is roughly the same asking price as the Meta Quest 3.
What’s more, the PS VR2 will see more exclusive games down the line.
So, your investment will pay off a little bit more with time.
Just take a look at what’scoming out for the PS VR2 in 2023.
